I found the feather laying on a beach. I was initially using my monochrome settings and was interested in photographing the contrasting textures of the feather captured in the sand, but once I picked the feather up and held it against the sky the idea changed to one that needed to discuss the shape of the feather and the way it seemed to be dancing against the light. Holding the feather upside down and exposing to the right of the histogram gave the feather the space it needed to dance and the ocean became it’s stage.
This image has become part of a series of images I called "Other Realities”, which is an ongoing series where I find objects and through the creative process change their reality.
